About our
Coordinator, Joanne DiMaggio
A writer by profession with a background in marketing
and public relations, Joanne DiMaggio has been involved with the A.R.E. since the late 1980s when she
became one of the founding members of the A.R.E. Heartland Region in
Chicago.
She served on the Executive Core Team for that region for
six years and presented several programs to Chicago area members. She
has been professionally pursuing past-life
research for over 20 years. In October 1991 she founded PLEXUS (Past
Life Exploration, Understanding and Sharing) in Naperville, IL. and
brought that to Charlottesville under the name Athanasy in 1995. During
that time she also acted as Study Group Chairman for the Association for
Past-Life Research and Therapies (APRT). She continues to be a member
of that organization, now named the International Association for
Regression Research and Therapies, Inc. (IARRT).
A graduate of the Eastern Institute of Hypnotherapy through which she earned her CHt (Certified Hypnotherapist), she completed additional training in hypnosis at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL and studied under Dr. Irene Hickman, a pioneer in the field of non-directive hypnotherapy.
Joanne earned her a Master’s Degree in Transpersonal
Studies through Atlantic University in May 2010 and in the fall of that same year was named the first president of the new Atlantic University Alumni Association.
Joanne is the author of a line of
award-winning inspirational greeting cards called Spirit Song. She has
given talks on Inspirational Writing to A.R.E. groups in Chicago,
Charlottesville and Bethesda, Maryland and at the 2009 Women’s
Conference at A.R.E. headquarters in Virginia Beach. She will have an article on Inspirational Writing in the April 2011 issue of Venture Inward, will be teaching an eGroup on this topic in June and will be one of the presenters at the A.R.E. Conference on Edgar Cayce's Tools of Transformation in August 2011.
Her first book, “Charlottesville: A Contemporary Portrait” was
published in March 2002. She is currently working on a two books: one on
inspirational writing called, appropriately enough, Soul Writer. The other she is acting as ghost writer for T.J. Davis who is sharing stories of his years growing up in the Cayce household, called Remembering Edgar Cayce.

Our programs are held at several locations. Please be sure to carefully read the program listing to confirm location.
Unity Church in Charlottesville
2825 Hydraulic Road
Charlottesville, VA
From I-64 West.
Exit 124, Charlottesville-Shadwell, Route 250W.
Turn right onto Route 250W and go approximately 4 miles to Hydraulic Road. This is a "soft" right. Watch for street signs. If you get to the light, you've gone too far. Turn "right" onto Hydraulic Road and take that approximately 2 miles to Unity Church, which is just north of Albemarle High School and will be on the left side of the street. The closest intersection is Hydraulic and Whitewood Road. There is ample parking at the church. Please note that no food or drink (other than water) is allowed in the sanctuary, but for programs of three hours or longer, refreshments will be served on the Terrace Level.
Forest Lakes Pavilion & Club House
1824-28 Pavilion Circle
Charlottesville, VA
Coming from Route 29N or 29S.
Drive to the light at Timberwood Blvd., the Forest Lakes North entrance that is across from Hollymead Town Center (Target, CVS, Kohl's). If you are on 29N, turn right; if on 29S turn left and continue past the Food Lion Shopping Center on your left. Go a block or two up to the Forest Lakes Swim & Tennis Club entrance sign (Pavilion Circle) on your left. There should be an A.R.E. sign with an arrow to guide your way. Turn left onto Pavilion Circle and follow around all the way to the end. There will be two buildings on your right. The first is the Club House that is adjacent to the swimming pool with the address 1824 on the building. The second is next to it and that is the Pavilion with the address 1828 on the building. Most of our programs will be held in the Pavilion. There is plenty of parking, but seating is limited in both of these buildings so you MUST register in advance if you are attending a program here.
As you know, the A.R.E. has a housing list for members who attend programs in Virginia Beach and prefer to stay in someone’s home rather than in a hotel. In response to questions about where to go for overnight accommodations while attending Charlottesville programs, we have done the same thing. We now have a list of local members who have graciously opened their homes to visiting like-minded souls. If you would like a copy of that list for your next visit, let us know!
