A writer by profession with a background in marketing and public relations, Joanne DiMaggio, MA, CHt has been involved with the A.R.E. since the late 1980s when she became one of the founding members of the A.R.E. Heartland Region in Chicago. She served on the Executive Core Team for that region for six years and presented several programs to Chicago area members. She has been professionally pursuing past-life research for over 20 years. In October 1991 she founded PLEXUS (Past Life Exploration, Understanding and Sharing) in Naperville, IL. and brought that to Charlottesville under the name Athanasy in 1995. During that time she also acted as Study Group Chairman for the Association for Past-Life Research and Therapies (APRT).
A graduate of the Eastern Institute of Hypnotherapy through which she earned her CHt (Certified Hypnotherapist), she completed additional training in hypnosis at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL and studied under Dr. Irene Hickman, a pioneer in the field of non-directive hypnotherapy.
Joanne earned her Master’s Degree in Transpersonal Studies and her Spiritual Mentor certification through Atlantic University in May 2010. In the fall of that same year she was named the founder and first president of the Atlantic University Alumni Association, as well as "Outstanding Graduate of the Year."
Joanne is the author of a line of award-winning inspirational greeting cards called Spirit Song. She has given talks on soul (inspirational) writing and reincarnation to A.R.E. groups in the Chicago area, Austin, TX, Bethesda, MD, Milwaukee, Washington, DC, at Duke University, and throughout Virginia, including several programs at A.R.E. headquarters in Virginia Beach. Her articles have been published in Venture Inward, and she has taught several on-line eGroups hrough A.R.E. She has been a guest on over 40 international radio programs. In 2012 she became A.R.E. Congress Workshop Coordinator, a role she continues to this day.
Joanne is the founder and director of the Unity Holistic Healing Center, a service of Unity of Charlottesville, where she maintains a private office, teaches and conducts past-life regressions and research.
Her first book, “Charlottesville: A Contemporary Portrait” was published in March 2002. Her second book, Soul Writing: Conversing WIth Your Higher Self, was published in August 2011, and was the result of her culminating project ( thesis) for A.U. Its sequel, Writing Your Past Lives, was published by Rainbow Ridge in September 2013. Her third book, scheduled to be published in September 2016, is titled, Karma Can Be a Real Pain: Past Life Clues to Present Day Maladies.
